Mind over Matter

As A Man Thinks In His Heart So Is He.

Proverbs 23:7

I will be honest, I don't think I can ever remember living in such an interesting moment in time! For more than 90 days plus all around the world, we have been in quarantine. What?? Life has looked very different for all of us. Our jobs have been affected and our family routines have been flipped upside down. Life as we have known it has been disrupted and everything looks and feels very different for most. No school, no work, no social activities. Even no toilet paper? Blursday seems to be the new day of the week.

Most of us have been isolated from family and friends longer than normal and have learned that what they taught us in kindergarten about washing our hands may have held some truth. Our outings are reduced to minimal and our shopping trips are like preparing to go into surgery as we suit up with masks and gloves.

But as we go through this very different moment in time, there are more enemies that we find ourselves battling than just the enemy of a contagious virus COVID 19.

We find ourselves battling the enemies of depression, anxiety, fear and stress. Because of this, it is so important for us to become intentional about working to keep not only our bodies healthy but our mind healthy as well. Both are crucial in our overall well being and are imperative for a healthy transition.

Think about it like this, your mind has a voice. It talks to you in the privacy of your own head! However, what is it saying to you when you are alone? When it talks to you, it will either fill you with positive thoughts that will uplift you and motivate you. Or, it will fill you full of fear, doubt, confusion, and stress.

Today, I want to share a thought you may have never had before. You have power over your thoughts! If you don't like what that voice is saying in your head, you have the ability to change it!

I want to help you to identify how to have a healthy "Mind Set" so you can enjoy a peaceful, joy-filled life. It is the most ESSENTIAL thing you need right now!

There are two opposing mindsets, the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. Both of these mindsets will carry out their purpose whether it be good or bad.

A growth mindset is the most productive mindset to advance your life. It is the key to helping you get through tough times and successfully press through obstacles that try to stop you or slow your progress down. Let me show you a few examples of how you can reframe your life by reframing your thinking:

Examples:

What if I try this and fail? I guess I'm a failure. (Fixed Mindset)

I know that failure is a part of getting closer to success. If I don't try, how will I know if I can succeed? (Growth Mindset)

I don't know what I'm going to do! (Fixed Mindset)

I don't have the answer but I know that I can figure it out! (Growth Mindset)

This is too hard! (Fixed Mindset)

This may take some time and effort but I'm willing to see it through! (Growth Mindset)

I feel so overwhelmed! (Fixed Mindset)

I am determined to live in peace and joy even in the middle of opposition! (Growth Mindset)

I can't believe this happened to me and my family! (Fixed Mindset)

I am going to count all my blessings because I know I have so many things to be grateful for. (Growth Mindset)

I give up! (Fixed Mindset)

I will use some of the strategies I have learned to keep going! (Growth Mindset)

It only requires a small shift in the way you think and the way you speak to greatly change the trajectory of where your life goes and if you enjoy it or not.

Start today with a growth mindset! Remember, life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you choose to react to it.

Allow yourself to develop into the person that you want to be! With God nothing is impossible!

Don't be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Romans 12:2
