Cattle with a Cause!

Now FAITH is being sure of what we HOPE for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

Can God really use a Texas Longhorn to bring "HOPE" to forgotten veterans? Absolutely! And, we can't wait to tell you how it all got started.

Nine years ago, shortly after we purchased Happy Haven Ranch, we had a friend that owned a herd of over 150 beautiful Texas longhorns. He and his wife had such a love for this breed and began inviting us to their ranch so we could experience getting up close to a large group of these majestic indigenous animals.

We fell in love with their uniqueness and beauty, and soon we were the proud owners of three young Texas Longhorn heifers. Ironically their names were Faith, Hope, and Pheobe? I know...... it should have been "Love", but unfortunately, we didn't get to name them, they had already been registered.

We loved them and enjoyed watching them grow and we became very attached. They were all three so unique and we enjoyed learning about each of them and observing their very different personalities. We enjoy their calmness and beauty and the peace that they bring as we watch them in the pasture. They bring great joy in our lives and we are blessed as our herd now has grown to eleven.

Over the years, we began to understand that these longhorns were not just pets, but we realized that they had a unique purpose. We got the revelation that each longhorn could help toward meeting our ministry goals and could be a vital part of us in reaching those in need and helping to bring change to their lives.

They could help supply funding for our yearly budget, training, books, graduations, resources, and staff for the KPM Leadership Academy "Behind the Wire" and around the world. Each day the vision began to unfold until it was clear!

For those of you that don't know.....just a quick mini-lesson on longhorns. A longhorn's value is based on bloodline and horn length. We know that as we have prayed over these longhorns, that it is not by accident that our longhorn named "HOPE" has exceeded our expectations in her horn growth. "HOPE" has a strong bloodline and has an amazing 88" (7.3 feet) horns length tip to tip.

On September 4th and 5th, 2020 Hope will be part of our first Longhorn Show in Duncan, Oklahoma. She will be featured and showcased as the Donation Cow. Kenton Pate Ministries has donated her to be auctioned off and all proceeds will go to the ministry to help advance our forgotten veterans program and expand it into other units and the duplication of the academy in other states. We are so blessed to be a part of this event and we are so grateful to The Legends Futurity Sale for inviting us and having such a heart to serve our forgotten veterans.

This amazing longhorn is bringing new opportunities to veterans and this vital outreach. In serving veterans we know that they willingly fought for our freedom, so we feel that it’s time to fight for theirs!

We are so excited that HOPE is the one in the herd that is the first one of our cattle to bring HOPE to those who served our great nation. We know that she is a door of HOPE for those who are walking through the valley! She was destined for this!

God is the only one who can make the valley of trouble a door of HOPE. Hosea 2:15
